The founder of Marriage Lifeline, Larry Bilotta, developed the tools of the program based on insights he used to transform his own marriage, which he refers to as 27 years of "living Hell". Larry and his wife Marsha are now happily married--and in their 33rd year together.

As word of the Marriage Lifeline grew, Bilotta saw a need to personally train a team of qualified "Marriage Translators" to conduct the Marriage Lifeline program with couples and individuals.

A Marriage Translator is an "alumni" of the Marriage Lifeline program and now has a successful marriage. They are trained to translate the thoughts, words and feelings of the wife to husband in a way he can understand, and then translate the thoughts, words and feelings of husband to wife in a way she can understand.

Bilotta has shown that a key reason for the Marriage Lifeline's 88% success rate is the fact that each Marriage Translator has gone through the program and successfully saved their own marriage using the very tools the program supplies to couples.

This is one of the factors that allow Translators to connect with couples on a much deeper level than someone who simply learns course material. (Traditional marriage counseling techniques are taught, but are not required to be personally lived. Marriage Translators actually live what they teach.)
